See, Feel, Trust: SFT

It was 2008 when my friend Tom Nellenbach gave me the book “Seven Day in Utopia- Golf’s Sacred Journey”. At the time I thought the book was about how to play better Golf. Tom knew that Golf was a true passion of mine. He also saw how at times my game frustrated the heck out of me. I thought this gift was to help me play more enjoyable golf. I took from the book SFT: See, Feel and Trust. At the time this meant See the shot, Feel the shotTrust the shot. I would use SFT as I played golf. While it certainly helped improve my game, I what to share with you the fact that I missed the full meaning of SFT because of the lens I was looking through.

Back in 2008, I loved this book so much that I shared it with many close friends that also enjoyed the game of golf. As we prepared for Christmas, I took a little time to rest on the couch and surfed cable for a movie of interest. I stumbled upon the Movie “Seven Day in Utopia- Golf’s Sacred Journey”. I thought since I had read the book, I might enjoy a refresher on things that the movie picked up that I might have missed when I read the book. Wow! Am I glad I settled on this movie.

What I learned was that Golf was simply the back story to the real focus of the Book and Movie. “Seven Day in Utopia- Golf’s Sacred Journey” is really a message on life. They used Golf as a way to paint the picture. It very easily could have been tennis, baseball, ballet, swimming work or any life activity. Life is a summation of all your experiences. Your output is dictated by how you react and what you learn along the way. “Seven Day in Utopia” ends with Luke the golfer lining up a putt to win the Texas Open. As Luke hit the put the book ends. I found myself in 2008 frustrated thinking how could they not let us know if Luke won the Open. The movie made me realize that this put means absolutely nothing with respect to Luke’s life. The beautiful thing is Luke grew to realize this from his seven days in Utopia.

He learned the true meaning of SFT. In order to fully experience our purpose in life we must See God’s Face, Feel Gods Presence and Trust Gods Love. Regardless of what you are trying to accomplish in life, you can use SFT to improve the outcome. Take for example a big project you are doing for work. Do you SEE the end project, do you FEEL yourself doing the work needed and do you TRUST the process you are following? Your results will for sure improve following this version of SFT.

Now ask yourself, how would it feel if you could 10X what you are SEEING in your future? If 10X interest you, then when performing the task at hand try incorporating this version of SFT into the mix (See God’s Face, Feel Gods Presence and Trust Gods Love).

As you see God’s face, what does the face look like? Does God look strong? Does he look optimistic? Does he look fearless? Does his head tilt to left or right? Is he looking at you? As you feel God’s presence, do you feel confident? Do you feel relaxed? Do you feel empowered? As you trust in God’s love, do you trust your process? Do you trust what is on your plate today? Do you trust the work you have done leading up to today?

Learn from the mistake I made in 2008 and that is how I overlooked the full meaning if SFT that Dr. David Cook’s introduced. With 2020 being right around the corner incorporating the full meaning of SFT might be life changing. I wish you a blessed New Year.

Keep working at what I try working on every day and that is:

1. Find something you are Grateful for

2. Be truly Present for those you are with

3. Ask yourself what you are feeding your mind, body and spirit?

Live inspired at God speed! SFT!
