Can you believe that it is December 2019? Beyond being the first day of December, today is a special day in that it is the first day of Advent. I was reminded of how special this day is as I read Jesus Calling this morning. As we prepare for Jesus’s Birthday, let’s celebrate the coming of Jesus. As we light each Advent Candle, we can be reminded of the eternal light that God shines on us. May you have a special Christmas Season and experience God’s shining light.
Since reading Jesus Calling caused me to think about Advent, I thought I might share some of my favorite excerpts from the devotional I began reading last December.
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
“I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving and will call upon you the name of the Lord.” Psalm 116:17
“What then shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?’ Romans 28:31
“But blessed is the man who trust in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.” Jeremiah 17:7
“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm 119:105
April 17- I know you live in a world of sight and sound, but you must now be a slave to those stimuli
May 5. Relax in knowledge that the one who controls your life is totally trustworthy
Keep working at what I try working on every day and that is:
1. Find something you are Grateful for
2. Be truly Present for those you are with
3. Ask yourself what you are feeding your mind, body and spirit?
Live in God Speed!
