I have recently been reflecting on a calling I think we all have and that is to help others. Get out of ourselves and lend a hand.
The question is, can we be of full aid to others if we ourselves are not truly happy? You hear the flight attendants instruct the passengers to put the oxygen on themselves before helping their child. Life is very similar to this. We cannot truly be of service if we are not at peace and grateful for who we are today.
Comparing is a place that leads to poor self-love. Am I good enough? Why does my neighbor have more than me? Why did that person get promoted and I did not? Am I strong enough? Am I involved with my children enough? Am I a good enough friend or brother? When we compare, we are in despair!
If we put the oxygen tank on first, we can thrive. We can see improvement. We are not perfect at all. In fact, we are sinners. If we continue kicking our ass for our shortcoming, we will paralyze ourselves. Hug yourself and be grateful for the life you have today. Totally embracing the current you requires faith in God’s plan. Keep in mind that every bump creates an opportunity to grow.
In business we have heard to term Kaizen. This means continuous improvement on all fronts. When we compare, I believe we are looking for perfection? Perfection is a bar that no one can hurdle because we are all flawed. If we live with a Kaizen mentality, we can be freed of trying to be perfect. Let’s work together to improve how we view ourselves.
God made you a beautiful person. Celebrate his beauty and love yourself.
I am truly grateful for all those that read my blog. If there is someone that you think might find value in today’s message share it with them. They are beautiful too.
